ABOUT DEACON 1
-
Deacon is one of LA's original premiere drum&bass talents. A true seasoned veteran with over 12 years of professional experience, playing under grounds, clubs, warehouse parties, raves & music festivals around the world. Deacon began his career as a hip hop d j, coming up in the, now legendary, after hours scene around 92-94. NO-DOZ, WHAT, DARE, CAFIEND, ANGIE'S URBAL JUNGLE, & INSOMNIAC.
Deacon, who worked at record stores most of his life and dance music buyer
for a major distributor at one point, quickly and easily graduated to the ever evolving musical genre of breakbeat hardcore, which evolved into jungle or drum&bass. By 96 Deacon was an LA favorite and well on his way to national stardom, when he began throwing the legendary Wreck-Ignition events with his brothers Ryan & Frankie, and his Cousin Dustin, some of the first "strictly jungle" events on the west coast. In late 96 they threw "uprise", the first 3 room d&b event on the west coast.
By 2000, Deacon had played headline slots in every major city & rinsed out nearly every major festival and massive in the country. With a need for growth artistically & to broaden his skills musically,he began building his own studio and developing his unique style of hard, dark, hip hop/metal influenced drum&bass.
From turntablism - to deep set progression - to straight up party rockin sets, his reputation for consistency is unparalleled. A true d&b heavyweight who has been an influence & mentor to even many of today's rising jungle stars.
Today Deacon is in higher demand than ever. With the rise of the U.S drum&bass scene & attendance, he has made himself a unique platform as both an innovator & a pioneer. Maintaining a hectic d.j schedule, while continuing to throw the wreck-ignition events, as well as starting his own domestic imprint******, Deacon is a force to reckoned with.
